8 Weeks
- Heartguard (Protects Against Heartworms, Round, Hook & Whip Worms) Usually given on a seperate
day than the 8 week Panacur. Not usually given during the cooler months as they are not at a high risk of getting
a mosquito bite that transmits the Heartworm microfilaria(larvae).
Frontline is also
applied directly before leaving my care
Occasionally the vaccination program will vary for a particular litters
individual needs, not all litters are the same, each has its own unique characteristics. Somtimes certain stress factors
will cause me to delay a vaccination for a few days causing the rest of the schedule to also change. The day you
plan to pick up your puppy or the day your puppy is shipped will also influence your puppys' vaccination schedule.
One example is very large litter especially the Corgis will develope slightly slower than a small litter and I will try to
schedule vaccinations in coordinance with the large litters longer/later weaning schedule as they generally need to be with
mom longer. Some vaccinations are interfered with by the mothers own natural maternal antibodies, the
puppies get these from moms milk and render the vaccination useless if given before those maternal antibodies have
time to leave the body.
NeoPar is a high titer/low passage and does a good job of protecting against
Parvo in the presence of maternal antibodies but is relativley hard on the puppies immune system but thats why it works so
well. In a larger slower developing litter I will usually delay the NeoPar until they are strong enough and developed
enough to handle it.
